What it does

Scheduled ATF Visualizer collects the results of your scheduled ATF suite runs and renders them on a single overview page: pass rates over time, failing tests, and the schedules behind them — so you can see the health of your automated tests without digging through result records.

  • Fixed the dashboard's step chart counting skipped, warning and canceled steps as failed. The Failed bar now counts failed and errored steps only.
  • Added an access control on the Ajax processor so results are only served to users with the app's user role. Previously any signed-in user could read them by calling it directly.
  • Added an ATF test suite with six self-contained server-side tests covering the dashboard, execution grouping, the execution cap, execution details and the access control.
  • Removed unused cross-scope privileges the app carried from development.

Rebuilt schedule view. Picking a schedule now opens a searchable list of its executions, each expandable in place down through suites, tests and individual steps — replacing the old breadcrumb drill-down through separate schedule and run lists.

New in this release

  • Nested test suites are shown: child suite results appear under their parent suite instead of being treated as separate runs.
  • Execution history goes back 30 executions per schedule; the dashboard continues to show the last 5.
  • Statuses beyond pass/fail are recognised and rolled up on their own — warning, skipped, canceled and still-running.
  • Each execution reports its own start and end time across all its suites, with the elapsed duration, plus counts of passed, failed, skipped, warning and canceled tests.
  • Test detail shows the test output, the first failing step, and a per-step summary and output.

Fixes

  • An execution only reports passed when at least one test actually passed; an execution of nothing but skipped or unrecognised results now reads unknown rather than green.
  • The oldest execution in the list is no longer shown half-loaded when it falls across the edge of the query window.
  • Child suite results no longer split one execution into several.
  • Suites within an execution are ordered as they run in the schedule, not by when their results happened to be written.

Installing and upgrading

Install on every instance. Import the same update set XML into each instance that should run the app — dev, test and prod — or retrieve it from dev through an update source. Every release contains the complete app, so you can upgrade from any earlier version straight to the latest.

Check your release first. Each version lists the ServiceNow releases it supports. Your instance's release is the Build name on stats.do, or the glide.buildname property. If it isn't listed for the version you want, contact Devolent before you import.

"External application" is expected. The app lives in Devolent's scope, x_devlnt_sch_atf, so Application Manager labels it an external application and won't let you publish it to your company's application repository. Move it between instances with update sets as described above.

Upgrading. Import the newer file the same way on each instance, starting with dev. Preview flags any records you have changed locally, so review those before you commit.

Extend it, don't edit it. Devolent owns the app and ships every fix and new version. Changes made inside the app's scope are overwritten or flagged on the next upgrade, and a modified app is outside Devolent's support. Where the app allows it, put your own logic in your own scope, where it survives upgrades. Need something the app doesn't offer? Contact Devolent.
